1854 Shipwreck Ebony Earrings (G)
Earrings “G” Front/top wood is Kappa scrap from St John USVI; rear wood is Cassia – also a scrap from St John USVI. Swordfish bill (white), Ebony from the Schooner Dolphin which capsized of off Cuttyhunk Island, MA in December 1854, Angelique from Surinam (wooden shipbuilders scraps Marthas Vineyard). Paua abalone, mother-of-pearl, copper from antique piano string windings, brass and nickel. Cows milk finish. This handmade item comes with a card that offers some of the story and a list of materials used in it. Earrings have US made sterling silver ear wires.
